Gordon Crichton

Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Gordon and I am first and foremost a passionate photographer.

Ever since I first came across a camera as I child I have been intrigued by the way light and a time can create everything from the simplest to the deepest and most complex images.

I don’t know when I first took my first photograph but it was certainly when I was still in primary school. This developed to my borrowing (on a somewhat permanent basis!) my father’s Canon AV1 slr film camera and developing my skills further. Suddenly I realised photography was a lot more than point and shoot and much more about composure, patience and trying to master aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

As tends to happen in life, hobbies take a back seat to day to day living. School, exams, university and full time work conspired to reduce my time to develop my passion. I still took photographs and moved from film to digital.(I still have the old Canon AV1 and it still takes great photographs.)

In 2012 I decided it was time to rekindle my old hobby and I purchased my first digital slr, a Canon 650D. From there it has been a rollercoaster journey relearning the old skills and developing them further. Driving my family demented – “say cheese!” and if you ask my wife, spending far to much time and money on a hobby!

In 2017 I decided it was time for a change and so I set up Gordon Crichton Photography as a way of developing a hobby into something a bit bigger so that I could use my hobby for something a little more productive (and also to give the family and friends some time to relax their smile!) Alongside my day job I now actively carry out various different types of photo shoots including portrait, wedding, event and landscape work.

I take pride in ensuring that my clients get exactly what they are looking for (and more) in their shoots, be that a simple head and shoulders portrait to a large group shot. I want my clients to enjoy the experience. Don’t be afraid to ask me anything and remember the camera doesn’t bite!
